Ok, I’m going to start by saying this event closes on 31st March. So you need to read this, then book yourself a table, stat.
You know you get those nights that aren’t anything spectacular, but that you’ll remember for a long, long time? That was the night we had last weekend at the CIROC Winter Terrace takeover at Madison, One New Change. I mean, the views were, well, take a look at the photos to see the open-air views we were treated to.
So after checking in to our hotel and getting all dressed up, we whizzed over to St Paul’s and took the lift to the very top of One New Change, an all-glass development home to high street shops and, at the very top, Madison bar. The terrace space is huge, and CIROC has decked out the terrace with gorgeously fluffy throws, faux fur cushions and warming rugs.
The seating areas can be reserved, so when we were shown to our table we had a little space of our own. The only downside was that technically it’s outdoors, so the people sitting a bit too close to us decided to fill the whisky-infused air with disgusting cigarette smoke. No bother, after a group left their sofa we made our way over to pinch the stank-free seats.
The views we’ve touched on, and we definitely felt warm and snuggly thanks to the abundance of furs and heater lamps. But the drinks. The cocktails were incredible. Just incredible. Ciroc Vodka has come up with six deliciously sippable cocktails based on winter berries, deep flavours, and peppery tones, and one warm heated cocktail for when the night got a bit chilly.
From the super sweet Strawberry ‘Le to the classic take on the Pornstar Martini, the flavoursome Rooftop Cobbler and warming Winter Velvet, we loved their winter take on the classics. And all reasonably priced too, considering we were in the heart of London’s finance zone.
After chatting away for what felt like the entire night, we decided to try some classics, and asked the barman to come up with his rendition of the CIROC Vesper Martini and a CIROC Cosmo. Now, David always orders the former (it’s a James Bond thing, apparently) and he always winces through it. He’s not a massive fan of bitter drinks, and a Vesper Martini is bitter. Well, whatever the barman did solved the issue as it was the first one he’s actually enjoyed!
With the cold setting in, we chose our last two drinks. The Hot Apple Pie Martini (which takes about ten minutes or so to create) and an aponymous Sex on the Roof (it should be called Sex on One New Change’s Roof) before heading back down the life and to the hotel.
We loved the experience, and were gutted to know it was only going to be around for another month or so. It’s the kind of experiential event we wanted to take our friends to. Because if the view didn’t wow them, the drinks certainly did.
