The Tweed Run London on 18th April 2015

Called a bike ride with a bit of elegant style, fans of tweed and tradition are planning a leisurely bicycle ride through London on 18th April in a celebration of all that is dapper and dashing and oh-so British.

The Tweed Run is now in its seventh year, and participants take part by donning traditionally twenties style tweed. Bow ties and flat caps abound, as do silk cravats and ladies cycling capes. This year’s event promises to be the largest and most stylish to date.

There’s no such word as overdressed on this run.

From penny-farthings to customized vintage two-wheelers, riders will start at Trafalgar Square and saunter down some of London’s most historical streets and iconic landmarks. Even if it should rain (it’s April, it probably will), intermittent breaks are planned for a spot of tea, a picnic in the park, and finally an evening of cocktails.

Prizes are on offer throughout the day to the most impeccably dressed, best moustaches and those with the finest vintage and best decorated bicycles.

Non riders welcome (but tweed is non-negotiable).

Tickets to the Tweed Run have sold out, however those who aren’t riding will be able to join the cyclists for Bourne & Hollingsworth’s Tweed Run Awards Ceremony, with tickets costing Β£20. Offering delicious cocktails, delightful music and delectable food, the evening has been designed to shake out joints and provide the perfect venue for Tweed Runners to let down their hair down after a long day riding.
