The internet this Sunday

Readers, I’m sat here while David Face watches some football or something. Now, this doesn’t bother me. Why? Because it gives me needed time to catch up on my favourite blogs, read a few chapters of whatever book I’ve downloaded, and do some writing. Yes yes, I’m one of THOSE people. Motivation is sorely lacking in my life, so its through the loss of telly that I seem to be most productive.

So, what have I found this Sunday?

Suspicious “quotation” marks

Would you like some “chicken” with your meal? These unnecessary quotation marks have really tickled me today, and I promise I’ve not been doing Dr Evil finger quotes while reading each one. OK THAT’S A LIE.

Airbnb’s #onelessstranger

Basically, Airbnb allows people to stay in other people’s homes as guests. Hosts offer up their sofas, beds, rooms, and even houses to let tourists get a taste of the local life. And I love it. And I’ll be using them more and more after our great Edinburgh experience.

So, as part of the sharing is caring movement, they’ve set up the One Less Stranger campaign. Since New Year’s Eve Airbnb has been giving their community members $10 (about £6.50) to help with an act of kindness to a total stranger. It could be buying the person in front of you at the coffee shop their drink, paying for their bus journey, or literally stuffing the cash in an envelope and giving it to a random person. The aim is to break barriers and spread a little happiness in this dreary world.

As we’re in Jamaica soon, I’ll be taking up the challenge and popping a $10 note in an envelope for someone. Who knows who it’ll be! Will you take part?

Hate someone but don’t necessarily want criminal charges thrust upon you?

In possibly one of the most needlessly aggressive websites ever, these Aussies will engage in some low intensity terrorism and post a ton of glitter to someone you hate for ten of their (useless) dollars. It’s GENIUS. One testimonial reads:

For my 1 year anniversary I didn’t know what to get my wife so I bought this thinking it would be funny. It wasn’t, I’m now divorced, broke & living with my best friend. I’d like to talk with the owner to get a refund & discuss damages. You can reply directly to this email address.

They aren’t actually offering the service for the time being, but you can sign up to be notified when they are. Or, y’know, save the money and head to Hobbycraft for your own version of sweet revenge, whatever.

Oh, just another Tumblr thingy

I originally had this as my ‘things wot you hear in an advertising/PR agency’ outlet back in 2010, but I decided to use it as a place to put quotes, photos, and conversations. It probably won’t be updated much, but you can follow if you like. Or not.

To end, let us finish with this beautiful gif of a cat:
